Many moons ago, I ran across a term that just tickled the hell out of me, both for its succinctness and its applicability to many polyamorous situations. I wish I\u2019d come up with it, because it\u2019s just that good.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s called the One Penis Policy, and it tends to run something like this:<\/p>\n
Male<\/strong>:\u00a0 Hey, I was thinking about maybe you and I opening up our relationship and being non-monogamous.\u00a0 You\u2019d mentioned you thought Miss Brainy was pretty hot, didn\u2019t you?<\/p>\n Female<\/strong>:\u00a0 Yep, she is.\u00a0 And I think maybe having a more open relationship would be really cool.\u00a0 Miss Brainy is hot, but I\u2019ve kind of had my eye on Mr. Genius[1]<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n Male: <\/strong>No, I don\u2019t think that would work.\u00a0 I mean, you\u2019re bi, and I\u2019m interested in women, so it\u2019s fair that we can both have a girlfriend if we want.<\/p>\n While it\u2019s certainly okay not to want a million relationships and maybe your dance card is full at two, and it just happens<\/em> to occur that there\u2019s only one penis going around[2]<\/a>, making it a rule<\/em> is obnoxious and pretty damned sexist.<\/p>\n To put it bluntly, why is it the woman\u2019s responsibility to face culturally-programmed insecurities and not the man\u2019s?<\/p>\n
