Mama Java wouldn’t dream of telling you how to vote, because that’s just not how she rolls. However, she is asking you that if you are an American citizen to please, please, please vote tomorrow.
Smart Voter has a reasonably non-partisan breakdown of the issues you’ll be voting on and how the candidates stand on them. Educate yourself and vote for what you think is best for not only yourself, but your nation.
Thank you.
Or, you can not vote – not out of laziness, but as a specific and deliberate act of political dissent. http://forejustice.org/vote/non-voting_as_secession.htm
Just sayin’. 😉
Yeah, I’m familiar with the concept.
I also think that unless accompanied by other action might very well be a bit of self-delusion.
Oh absolutely. Political nihilism is most definitely not on the menu. For my part, I have come to the conclusion that my participation through voting would be self-delusion, and non-political social action carries far far more impact. But that’s a conclusion I have arrived at for myself, and don’t begrudge anyone else their choice in this. But, while I object to the whole mechanism, I also am spending increasing parts of my life trying to encourage alternatives. As you say, without that other accompanying action, it would simply be a waste.
